New Albums out today 3/15/2024 (Lustmord, Vltimas, Amenra, Four Tet, Udad, Tierra Whack, Hadit, Svoid, The Messthetics, Chuck Strangers, Gum Takes Tooth)

Selected releases from this week (or at least discovered this week):

The father, the son, and the unholy spirit of dark ambient music. I loved 2022's diverse collaborative album The Others as well as 2021's Alter with Karin Park. If the album art is any indication, this will be epic. (Pelagic Records)

This is all over the place in a good way. Technical cyber jazz death metal? Art punk industrial death metal? You decide. (Dark Descent)

Rune "Blasphemer" Eriksen (Mayhem, Aura Noir, Ruim), David Vincent (Morbid Angel), Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy), and Ype TWS (Dodecahedron) - With one of the most impressive line up's in death metal I really expected to like this band more. The vocals really ruin it for me. This is still some of the best musicians at the top of their game and worth a listen. (Season of Mist)

Deeply moving ambient folk. (Rocket/Feeding Tube)

This was released Feb 2nd but I missed it so I am posting it now. Amenra made a soundtrack to a film called Skunk. This is their first entirely ambient record that I am aware of. "Song of the Siren" hints at Sigur Rós (Sunhouse Records)

New Four Tet. You know if you want it. This album reminds me of Rounds. (Domino Records)

The frontman of Mork brings us a new band that sounds exactly like Mork. Black metal played well (Peaceville Records).

Tierra Whack's brand of weirdo pop hip-hop is infinitely charming and her videos are always inventive. (Interscope)

Hadit play a brand of highly technical and epic black metal that is right at home on I, Voidhanger (I, Voidhanger Records).

I am usually willing to give anything on Sun & Moon records a chance as it is usually unique and unexpected. Svoid mix black metal and post-punk in a really enjoyable way. (Sun & Moon Records)

Joe Lally's post-Fugazi power trio team up with Saxophonist James Brandon Lewis. (Dischord Records)

I have never heard of Chuck Strangers but Lex Records releases always deserve attention. Looking forward to delving into this one (Lex Records).

This came out Feb 23 but I just discovered it - Gum Takes Tooth is great and the Ukaea remix is particularly intriguing. (Selvamancer)
