New Albums this week 05/31/2024
I'm not sure how I got so lucky to live in the same time as Thou.
I'm not sure how I got so lucky to live in the same time as Gnod.
I have been eagerly anticipating this album. Lawrence English has been steadily becoming one of my favorite artists in the ambient space and I am thankful for the extent of his productivity. He is joined here and complimented so perfectly by the beautiful piano playing of Akira Kosemura.
Technical and dissonant death metal. High level shit.
I am not familiar with Big Hit or Hit Boy but everything The Alchemist touches is gold and I can tell that this is going to be staying in rotation. Stream full album
Boston's sensitive-yet-violent hardcore boys drop the emo lyrics and go full His Hero is Gone.
New music from Meshell Ndegeocello is always welcome. Two tracks of spiritual jazz that retains the best elements of the genre while breathing new life into it as well. Full album should be on all major streaming services (sadly no bandcamp). RIYL: Shabaka, Carlos Niño, Sun Ra.
Not a full length but I would be remiss if I were not to mention a new track from one of my favorite artists of all time. Pure shimmering radiance.
Adversarial never disappoint. Straightforward but flawlessly executed blasting and precise death metal.
Goddamn. I love a good remix album. Sick remixes from Foodman, Amnesia Scanner, and Gaika here.
Weird Truth as a label has released some of the slowest, strangest, and heaviest music I've ever heard. I know I can trust that Miasma Death will crush my soul and I will like it.
This album is out on June 7th but a full stream is up on youtube. Insect Ark bring vocals more heavily into the mix, brilliantly adding to their dark and heavy post-rock sound.
Deep and soulful jazz with depth and a hint of avant garde. Great to see guest spots from Kaki King, Vijay Iyer, and Moor Mother. Full album on most major streaming services.
Rocket Recordings is really having a grand day with both this and Gnod. Do you like Nick Cave and Unsane? I think these guys do too.
Justin K. Broadrick's ambient project produced by Lawrence English.
I have not had a chance to listen to this one but with collaborators like Mary Lattimore, Jefre-Cantu Ledesma, and David Moore, it can't go wrong.
